How Do You Know When Your Water Heater Needs Replacing

January 9, 2022

For the avidity of instant running water in our everyday life, we need a water heater. Due to the multiple households uses, we cannot think even without a water heater. This device is not a permanent or lifelong guarantee, today or tomorrow, you need to replace this fantastic tool.

Due to the uses for a long time and also the age of a tank, you need to replace it. But it is essential to realize when you need to change the tool. The homeowner must understand the signs given by the water heater and then replace it.

Here I am sure that the following indicator will help you to understand when you need to change your water heater. So, don’t worry at all and follow the indicators-

The age of the water heater:

You can see the manufacturing sticker to find out the serial number on the top of the device know the age. Usually, the first two numbers represent the year. But this serial number varies according to the model. So, the best way is to search on the website to know the accurate results. If the age is more than 10 years, you need to replace the water heater.

Always flush the water heater at a regular interval, then you can get a longer life span.

Gritty or discolored water:

When you see that the water comes out from the heater muddy or dusty, then it must replace it. This water can no longer protect the tank due to the dirty water. Because this type of water can corrode the anode rod quickly. Remove the anode rod immediately; otherwise, you have to change your whole eater tank.

The unusual smell of the water:

When you turn on the faucets, you can notice a bad or peculiar smell from the hot water, and also unusual tests like metallic as well. At that time, you need to clean or replace the water heater.

Rusty water:

If you get rusty water, remember that the water inside the heater is also rusty. And it also causes the leakage of water from the device if rust comes from the hot water you need to replace it.

You can prevent this rusting if you are adding magnesium, zinc, or aluminum anode rod inside your tank. For a better result, use two big sizes, the same materials anode rod. You can see that the natural gas water heater is more efficient than the electric one, and gas can heat the water faster than the electricity.

Not enough hot water:

When you turn on the hot water tap, try to feel it, if the cold water comes instead of hot water, maybe it’s time to replace the tank. Typically water heater can supply 120 to 140-degree hot water. Over time sediments inside the heater build, that can separate water from the heat sources. So, don’t make a delay, replace the device.

Noise and rumbling:

When the water heater becomes old, sediments build on the bottom of the tank. This sediment can waste the energy to heat the water. At that time, you can get some rumbling noise inside the device.

At the same time, the extra heating type can make a crack or hole inside the heater. So, in that situation, you need to replace it.

The water around the heater:

If you can notice moisture around the heater, there must be a crack inside the tank. When the metal heats, it expands and a silent leak you can see. At that time, water comes out from the heater. But when the metal gets fresh t that time the leak disappears.

All of the connections of the pipes ate tightly connected. If you find out any drops outside the tank from the device, there must be any open hiding cracks inside the tank. So, it’s time to replace the water heater and take the plumber’s help.

However, replacing the water heater is not the primary solution at all. Try to maintain the device correctly; then, you can get an accurate lifespan. The manufacturer’s guidelines given with your device are beneficial for you to manage your device. Follow the above instructions also and try to maintain your water heater for a long time and get fresh and pure hot water.
